Ana Andrade

Ana obtained a Professional Science Masters in Applied Biosciences with an emphasis in Industrial Microbial Biotechnology at the University of Arizona in 2024, where her research was focused on understanding the thermotolerance of endophytes- a type of fungi that lives symbiotically within plant tissues. She had previously received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona in 2017. She has over five years of experience in clinical research and extensive experience in various facets of clinical trials including monoclonal antibodies, COVID-19 vaccines, treatments, and most recently as a CRC in the NIH funded RECOVER study.

She has a wide range of interests within the field of science, such as how emerging biotechnologies like CRISPR can be used for various applications across research and industrial fields. She is passionate about social justice and science communication for getting the public invested and involved with emerging science research. She made contributions to the University of Arizona’s Sustainability and Climate Action Plan, where her passion for social justice and its intersection with the climate justice movement created an opportunity to develop a comprehensive roadmap for achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040 or sooner. In her spare time, she loves to explore the outdoors and learn more about the inhabitants of this amazing planet.
